The Acting General Manager for Africa Strategy for ESKOM Holdings SOC Limited in South Africa, Naresh Singh has been appointed as the new Board Chairman for ESKOM Uganda Limited.
He replaces Segomoco Scheppers who has been Chairman since 2012.
Singh is an Electrical Engineer graduated from the University of Natal.
He also holds an Executive MBA from the University of Oxford.
He has held various positions in ESKOM Holdings SOC Limited for the last 12 years, including major international assignments.
Singh brings a wealth of experience to the Board pf EUL.
The outgoing Board Chair, Segomoco was recently appointed Group Executive for Transmission for ESKOM Holdings SOC Limited, which sources say came with additional responsibilities that he now needs to focus on.
“The Board of EUL is grateful to Segomoco for steering it up to this stage. EUL wishes him success in his new role,” part of the statement from the Corporate Affairs department, ESKOM Uganda Limited reads in part.
Meanwhile, Julian Fourie has been appointed an Independent Non-Executive Director of EUL.
Fourie is the Senior Manager (Plant Management) of ESKOM Peaking Generation, comprising five 700MW of hydro and gas-fired generation across nine power stations.
Prior to that, he was the Senior Manager Engineering, ESKOM Generation Group.
He holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Chemistry from United World Colleges.
He brings a wealth of technical experience onto the EUL Board.
