The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has named eight women to look into sex harassment allegations against Members of Parliament.
The team named Wednesday is headed by ex-Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Winnie Kiiza. Other are; Minister of Trade and Mawokota legislator Amelia Kyambadde, Cecilia Ogwal (Dokolo Woman), and Pamela Kamugo Nasiyo (Budaka woman).
They are to meet Kadaga for a briefing ahead of commencement of their duty.
Early this month, female personal assistants under their umbrella, Uganda Parliamentarians Personal and Research Assistants Association petitioned the Speaker accusing their employers (male MPs) of sexually harassing them.
Diana Bakaire, a member of the association, said several ladies employed by the legislators are pressurized into sex by the MPs so as to keep their jobs.
It is against the above background that Kadaga named the 8-man team.
