Ezra Byakutangaza In Comfortable Lead Ahead of NRM’s Delegates Conference

National Resistance Movement (NRM) is set to hold its delegates conference for Special Interest Groups on Monday, August 25th, 2025. The party will see its flag bearers in the Special Interest Groups elections being elected that day.

Among the key groups are the youth who will elect flag bearers for the four regions that make up Uganda. Notable of prospective flag holders is Ezra Byakutangaza, who is eyeing the Western Youth MP seat.

Ezra is seemingly in a comfortable lead with most odds in his favour to hold the party’s flag in the forthcoming general election. He will battle for the flag with Kakwanzi Elizabeth, Kankiriho Arinda Daisy, Tumwebaze Mwine, and Ampaire Diana Kampe.

With his vast leadership experience from Makerere University, National Youth Council and Uganda National Students Association, Ezra has been exposed to many challenges that youth encounter in their daily lives and he is ready to change youth livelihood.

“I am not just aware of the challenges we face, I am well exposed to them, and I am ready to take on the responsibilities to be that voice in parliament. I am asking not just for your vote but for us to stand together as partners in this journey,” he says.

He intends to change the lives of youth through advocating for youth employment and skilling, increasing youth participation in politics and decision making, lobbying for affordable capital for youth, and promoting regional integration.

“By advocating for policy reforms, driving digital and technological innovation, promoting cultural exchange, and contributing to peacebuilding and economic development, young people can help create a more unified and prosperous continent,” he says.

He says regional integration is essential for ensuring long-term, sustainable development and fostering stronger cross-border cooperation in Africa.

On Wednesday, NRM’s secretary general, Richard Todwong, unveiled the programme for the party’s delegates conference.

According to the roadmap, delegates for special interest groups will be accredited on August 24th, and their conference will be on the 25th of August.

He said each delegate has a defined role and place in the process, and that the structure must be respected because that will create order and demonstrate to Ugandans that NRM remains the party of organization, unity, and discipline.
