Female Guard Killed in Tororo Cement Quarters

By Abraham Lincolns

Tororo

The staff of Tororo Cement were gripped with fear after  landing on   a female security guard in a pool of blood with her firearm abandoned beside her.

Beatrice Ekiling, 50, attached to Gideon Men Security Firm lost her life while on duty at Tororo Cement Quarters in Tororo Municipality at around 2:00am on Monday by unidentified assailants.

Reports indicate that the attackers primarily targeted motorcycles stored within the quarters, which were allegedly stolen after successfully killing Ekiling.

Moses Mugwe, the Bukedi South region police spokesperson, confirmed the incident, stating that Ekiling’s body was  taken for a postmortem examination at Tororo Hospital as authorities intensify their search for the culprits.

“Our people should remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as investigations continue to hunt down the law  breaker”;, Mugwe said

The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Tororo Sadiq Bategana Bakale also  confirmed the incident and revealed  that the  motorcycles were  stolen, and the lady was killed as a  sniffer dog was introduced to track the culprits.

Martin Opio, the area LC1 defence secretary, believes  that the attackers were focused solely on stealing property and had no interest in the firearm, urging the police to increase night patrols.

“I believe the attack was about the stolen motorcycles. The attackers were likely not interested in the gun because they probably didn’t know how to operate it. They could be used with  village weapons like pangas, knives, and hammers,” Opio said.

Ekiling who was a widow and a mother of seven has been a resident of Mayembe village in Asinge Sub- County, Tororo District. She worked as a guard for the past 14 years to support her family.
