Fisherman Arrested Over Vehicle Number Plate Theft

Kayunga Town Council Police Station is holding a man believed to have been motor vehicle number plate theft in the area.

Abdu Walakira, 26, a resident of Namagabi B was arrested last evening from his house after his brother alerted police that Walakira has been behind plucking off number plates from vehicles.

Ssezibwa Region Police spokesperson Hellen Butoto confirmed the arrest of Walakira.

“Our officers searched the suspect’s house. Break-in materials and a number plate were recovered. Other number plates were found in his toilet,” Butoto said.

Walakira is currently being held at Kayunga Town Council Police Station as investigations continue.
