FLEEING RISING WATER LEVELS: Boat with 08 persons capacity capsizes with 18 on board

Police and UPDF Marines are searching for eight missing bodies after a boat they were traveling in capsized on Lake Albert Sunday morning.


This news site understands that only nine people survived.

So far, a baby who died behind its mother has been retrieved.

The police say the boat was heading to Sebigoro landing site, Kyangali sub-county in Kikuube District when it capsized.

All the victims are of Alur from Mukambo in Ituli Province and were living at Ususa landing site, a site earlier identified as one of the existing illegal landing sites.

At the time of the accident, the victims were fleeing from the site following a rise in water levels.
