Former Nakapiripirit RDC behind bars over alleged murder of his wife

NAKAPIRIPIRIT: Former Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Nakapiripirit District Mr. Labeja Bob William is under police custody over alleged murder of his 38year old wife in Kitgum district.

Labeja served as RDC in Moyo district, he was later transferred to Nebbi district and later Napairipirit district before he was dropped last year in the reshuffle.

Jackie Abalo aged 38yrs, and resident died in cold blood on 14th February 2023 from Bregmah Medical Center where she had gone for treatment.

It is alleged that the (Abalo) deceased and her husband had a domestic misunderstanding that led to a fight on 12/02/2023.

Police findings indicate that on 13/02/2023, the deceased went to her mother’s place at around 0500hrs on a boda boda and informed her mother that she had a fight with the husband and was feeling severe head pain.

She demanded fifty thousand shillings from her mother to proceed to her parent’s village in Dure at the border of Kitgum and Pader District.

Upon receiving the money she was advised to leave her husband’s place since they had a lot of domestic violence issues over time.

In company of her brother identified as Kidega Ethan, the deceased moved to her mother identified as Akullu Robina aged 55 yrs resident of Lemo South Ward, Pager Division, Kitgum municipality.

However on reaching Dure, Mr Kidega, the deceased brother informed the mother of how bad the deceased’s condition was and needed medical attention where she was immediately taken to Bregmah Medical Center before she took her last breath.

The deceased mother reported the case to Kitgum Central Police Station on relieving the information.

David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa river region Police spokesperson confirmed the incident and said a case of Murder originating from aggravated domestic violence was registered at Kitgum Central Police Station under CRD No. VIDE CRB 130/2023.

Mudong notes that The police Homicide detectives headed by the District CID and the District scene of crime officer visited the scene, and recorded statements from the deceased mother and Brother.

He explained that the body  was transferred from Bregmah Medical Center to Kitgum General Hospital pending Postmortem.

The police mouthpiece said the suspect has been apprehended and he is in police custody for interrogation to help in investigations. Police condemned the acts of committing capital offences of murder arising from civil and domestic related misunderstandings. “We urge the members of the public to embrace dialogue and seek assistance within the provisions of the law” Mudong Said.

“We would like further to assure both parties to remain calm as we promise to professionally investigate the case and the file shall be submitted to RSA for legal guidance” He adds.

According to Mudong, once the file is sanctioned, the suspect shall be produced in court to answer charges of murder.
