Gen. Biraro’s last words to Bobi Wine: I have no regrets, I am ready to go…

By Francis Otucu

On Wednesday morning, former Presidential candidate Maj. Gen (Rtd) Benon Biraaro Buta was pronounced dead by medics at Kampala Hospital after a long battle with colon cancer.

He was one of the presidential candidates in the 2016 general elections running on the ticket of his Farmers Party of Uganda.

In a press statement, Kampala Hospital said Gen Biraaro was admitted to the facility on February 6, 2020 and was receiving treatment care for advanced cancer of the colon.

However, before passing on, he had a chat with Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.

According to Kyagulanyi, Biraro said he was ready to go.

“Three weeks ago I visited him,” Kyagulanyi said in a tweet Wednesday evening, quoting Biraro to have said to him, “I have accomplished my work. I have no regrets. I am ready to go.”

Kyagulanyi has described Biraro as a friend, role model, a man of integrity who loved and served Uganda with honor.
