Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba: I Won’t Be on the Ballot in 2026

Senior Presidential Operation in Charge of Special Operations and Chief of Defense Forces (CDF), Gen. Muuhozi Kainerugaga, has said that he will not be on the ballot in 2026.

Muhoozi is the chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

There have been suggestions that with PLU being in active mobilization, the four-star general would consider challenging his father and incumbent, Gen. Yoweri Museveni.

But in a post on X on Saturday morning, the army boss said, I would like to announce that I will not be on the ballot paper in 2026. Almighty God told me to focus on His army first. So, I fully endorse President Yoweri Museveni in the next elections.
