Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde has notified the Electoral Commission of his intention to consult local and international voters ahead of his interest to run for Presidency in the 2021 general polls.
“My consultations will, therefore target various interest groups in the country, with a view of facilitating my decisions ahead of nominations of Presidential candidates slated for October 2020,” part of his letter to the EC dated February 28, 2020 and received March 3, 2020, reads.
His prayers are, however, that EC’s mandate is respected.
“I pray that the statutory mandate of the EC shall be respected by other organs of the state, and that there will be harmony throughout this important constitutional exercise,” he said.
It remains to be clear when he formally starts his consultations and, starting which region of the country.
