Gulu University Promotes 16 staff, gives 12 others study leave

Gulu University Appointments Board has awarded the Academic Registrar, Dr. Jerry Bagaya with a new five-year contract among 16 other staff appointed to high positions.

Bagaya’s contract was due to expire on the 30th of January, 2023 and the new contract starts effectively on the 1st of February 2023.

While communicating the decisions of the Board as of their 51st meeting that was held on the 5th of December 2022, a team of management led by Gulu University Deputy-Vice Chancellor, Associate Professors David Okello Owiny, on Monday the 9th January 2023 from the Council Board Room lauded the Academic Registrar for his contribution towards the development of the university.

The team also awarded appointment letters to the newly elected deans and heads of departments to take the mantle of their Faculties.

Obol David Otori, the Gulu University secretary said that the role of the new deans includes human resource management and financial management at their faculty level since most of the activities are decentralized and there is a need for the Directorate of Human Resources to

Prof. David Okello Owiny, the Deputy Vice Chancellor congratulated the appointed staff for their achievement and challenged them to take up their roles and work towards the development of the university to improve service delivery to country.

The new deans include Dr Ofoyuru Denis Thaddeos , Dean Faculty of Education and Humanities replaced Dr Isingoma Bebwa, Dr Malinga Maxwell Denis Dean Faculty of Science replaced Dr Oyoo Benedict and Dr Olido Kenneth Dean of Faculty of Business and Development Studies replaced Dr Olanya David Deross.

The heads of the department given appointment letters include Professor Mwaka Amos Deogracious head of the department Internal Medicine, Associate Professor Odida Micheal ahead of the Pathology Department, Mr. Musoke David head of the department of Pharmacology and Dr Ndyomugyenyi Elly Kuburobuza head of the department Animal Production and Ranch management among others.

 Meanwhile, the University appointment board also granted study leave to 12 staff.
