NBS television investigative journalist and anchor Solomon Sserwanjja has spoken out on the arrest of his wife and colleagues yesterday morning.
Sserwanjja, who was this morning speaking in an interview with NBS from Wampewo Avenue, said he feared for his wife’s job at the Ministry of Health, where she is the Public Relations Officer.
His wife Vivienne Sserwanjja was arrested with three other BBC journalists, and charged with illegal possession of classified drugs before being released on Friday morning.
“I feel bad my wife was dragged into this. It is not fair. It is also very dangerous for her especially since she is the Ministry of Health spokesperson. I am worried about her job and safety,” he said.
The ex-NTV and UBC reporter also revealed that he has had the ‘longest week coupled with a scare and worry’.
“I have had the longest week of my entire life. I have been scared and worried since the arrest of my colleagues. That night, my wife told me they had surrounded the house. I told her not to open until our lawyers came in the morning,” he said.
Sserwanjja went ‘missing’ after a joint security team searched his Mukono but found he was not home at the time.
