Prime minister in trouble for blasting Uganda as “Fene economy”

Government is going to produce and distribute 33 million masks.
According to state minister for Urban Planning Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, each mask has been negotiated at 2400shs.
Some MPs led by Bernabas Tinkasimire had been claiming that the masks had been procured at an exorbitant price. Tinkasimire even urged members to mobilize their voters to buy themselves masks worth shs5000 instead of allowing to be cheated.
“The minister of health has declared that government through her ministry of health has bought 750,000 face masks at 81.2 billion which means each face mask is costing the tax payer 108,266 shs . With this thuggery when do you expect this regime to transform the rural ordinary person who lives in indecent housing, with no food security, with capacity to pay fees for their children from primary to university and cannot pay their medical bills in case any of their family members fell sick” Tinkasimire noted.
However, Baryomunsi says this information by the MP is not correct.
Meanwhile, MPs have asked health Ministry to appear tomorrow and clarify on the alleged misrepresentation of fact regarding masks. Dr. Sam Lyomoki (workers MP) says ‘ I heard that (what Tinkasimire is saying) but I concluded that there was some misrepresentation of the facts. Most likely she (the minister) meant 81.5 b as the available resource budgeted for that. We are meeting them on Tuesday so we shall get the right facts” he says.
He said this would enable members comment on issues with facts to avoid misleading he masses.
“So I suggest we dont debate this matter for now” he says.
President Museveni promised free masks to all Ugandans three weeks ago. The distribution started last week in Rakai areas.
