PAUL WANYOTO MUGOYA IN WHITE T SHIRT

City lawyer Paul Wanyoto Mugoya has rushed at the Government for failure to invest in disaster preventive measures as people continue losing lives along highly risky landslides and floods prone areas.

Wanyoto Mugoya has offered to serve the voters of Mbale Northern city Division come 2026 general elections , his   remarks came after two of his people perished following a torrential heavy downpour on Sunday that washed away homes, killing animals and destroyed crops in Northen Division Mbale city.

Police spokesperson Elgon region Taitika Rogers identified the dead as Shadrack Wabule Mudulo and his daughter Vivian Nagudi, both residents of Lumumba cell in Northern Division Mbale city.

According to Paul Wanyoto, the Mugoya Government would put in place early warning systems and other preventive measures in place where people living in areas prone to dangers of landslides and floods would be notified to vacate the places before a disaster strikes.

“A disaster is a disaster we can not stop it, but our government has the capacity to warn the locals to vacate places where according to predictions would be affected by heavy floods or landslides” Wanyoto said.

Wanyoto Paul who communicated to the prime minister Robinah Nabanja noted that there is need for more sensitisation of the public living in highly risky areas affected by repeated floods and landslides.

He asked the prime minister to add in more efforts on the process of relocating people from Bugisu sub region areas prone to landslides to safer locations particularly in Bunambutye sub county Bulambuli district.

PAUL WANYOTO MUGOYA

According to the prime minister Robina Nabanja the Government of Uganda started a 10 years resettlement plan which includes constructing houses and providing land and cash to affected families of people living in landslide prone areas in Bugisu sub region to safer locations at Bunambutye sub county Bulambuli district.

Wanyoto Paul called the members of the public in Bugisu and particularly his people of Northern city division   to always stand with and help those living near water banks during times of trouble.

“Please let help each other, in terms of accommodation, food and bedding during these difficult times” Wanyoto pointed out.

He also cautioned people to remain vigilant during the rainy period and try to respond quickly when disaster occurs.

Wanyoto Paul was part of the crowd that helped to carry and meet burial expenses of the deceased to their home ancestral village in Bulambuli district.

PAUL WANYOTO MUGOYA MEDITATING LOSS OF HIS VOTERS

Bellow is part of his message for the loss of lives:-

I stand in solidarity with the people of Mbale city particularly Northern city division and Bugisu region following tragic floods caused by heavy rains, which claimed lives and destroyed property in my area Lumumba cell Nabweya and many parts of Northern city division of Mbale.

As we mourn together, let us also remain vigilant in this season of unpredictable weather.

There is still more rain and we should always stand with our people who are staying near those river Banks during this season,

We can be of help to one another by accommodating them because we all need each other in all conditions.

I continue to call upon government to invest more in preventive measures rather than responding only after disasters have struck

May God or Allah comfort all families who lost their loved ones and grant the departed eternal rest.

Hon Paul Mugoya Wanyoto

Incoming MP in Northern City Division Mbale city  2026–2031.
