I’ve Never Met AIGP Magambo, Mrs. Kateregga

Mrs. Kateregga

Jolly S. Kateregga has issued a strong public statement denying allegations circulating on social media and in sections of the media that link her romantically to the Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), AIGP Tom Magambo.

In the statement released on Tuesday, Kateregga described the claims as false, malicious, and misleading, stressing that she has never met AIGP Magambo and has no personal, professional, or business relationship with him.

“I have never met AIGP Tom Magambo at any time or place, and I have no relationship whatsoever with him,” Kateregga stated, adding that the allegations are entirely baseless.

She condemned the claims, saying they are damaging not only to her personal reputation but also unfairly target a senior public servant in the execution of his duties. According to Kateregga, the spread of such misinformation undermines public trust in state institutions.

Kateregga further clarified that her personal dispute, which has attracted public attention in recent weeks, is currently before a competent civil court. She urged the public and the media to allow the judicial process to proceed without speculation or interference.

“I respectfully ask the public and media to await the court’s final judgment instead of spreading unverified information,” she said.

She also called on media houses to exercise professionalism and verify information before publication, warning that she reserves the right to take legal action against individuals or platforms that continue to circulate the allegations.

The statement comes amid heightened public interest in the ongoing civil matter involving Kateregga, which has generated widespread discussion online. Neither AIGP Tom Magambo nor the Uganda Police Force has commented further on the allegations beyond previous clarifications distancing the police from the private dispute.

Legal observers note that false allegations of this nature can attract civil liability if proven to be defamatory.
