Kadaga Rallies Busoga to Vote  for Museveni amidst Rigidities.

First deputy Prime Minister, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has appealed to the people in her home region to rally behind President Yoweri Museveni and all the NRM flag bearers in the forthcoming general elections. Kadaga, whose influence is honoured by most natives in the region, emphasized that she’s looking at party unity and delivering victory across the area.

“As NRM, we walk in unity and together we will deliver victory in the region because it’s not just about individuals but the party instead. I call upon all my followers in Busoga to rally behind our party president and the NRM in the upcoming elections”  Kadaga said.

Speaking to The Second Opinion Publications , the Kamuli district woman Member of Parliament was on Tuesday speaking after President Museveni’s nomination by the Electoral Commission as a presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2026 general elections. Kadaga referenced the gains Busoga has achieved under the NRM rule, saying that many unfinished development projects and promises in the region can only be fulfilled if the NRM leadership returns to power.

“I urge my people of Busoga to put aside divisions and support the party ticket in order to secure continued investments and accountability and having unfinished development projects and promises fulfilled. Though the Busoga iron lady has served in different capacities both in government and the ruling NRM party, Kadaga’s relationship with President Museveni has not always been smooth especially during the previous NRM delegates conference that threw her out of CEC as a national vice female chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in favour of Rt. Hon. Anet Anita Among, the speaker of parliament .

Tensions between the two have emerged over the years, often surfacing during internal party elections and regional politics. During her home back party in Jinja show grounds and Kamuli municipal grounds, Kadaga previously accused some Busoga members of parliament and top kingdom officials of betraying her and plotting against her rise within the party and in the electoral suffrage.

Kadaga has openly criticized corruption and internal favouritism within the party, often pointing fingers at some of her colleagues. These criticisms have created visible rifts within the NRM’s Busoga bloc, were leaders compete not only for regional loyalty but also for national attention and influence.

During the party’s delegates conference, Kadaga was heard loud telling President Museveni that her continued humiliation could trigger serious political consequences in Busoga though Mr. Museveni openly told her off that she  does not own Busoga because she was not there when he (President Museveni) worked with previous Busoga  Kings.

Even with these inflexibilities, Kadaga has endured within the NRM pleat and continues to hold its political agenda, particularly in her home region. The latest development goes along with securing votes and support for President Museveni within Busoga of late have been the NUP headquarters for Eastern swayed to the leading opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine.

Experts have hitherto opined that Busoga is the Easter Headquarters of NUP in Uganda.
