The police are investigating possible foul play in the drowning of twins; Roman Kato and Raiding Wasswa, sons to junior Water Minister, Ronald Kibuule.
The investigation, security sources say is expected to show whether the cameras had malfunctioned before the incident or failed by 5:30pm yesterday when the incident happened.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango said the investigation is not only around the CCTV cameras but that the scope is wider.
By the time of filing his story, bodies of the deceased had been returned from the city mortuary where bodies had been taken for postmortem.
5 ARRESTED
Meanwhile, five people have been arrested in connection with the drowning of twins.
The suspects include; Scovia Nalubwama, Peace Nankunda, Lawrence Kibaya and Agripa Kumanya.
The Police say the suspects, are all maids at the junior Water Minister’s home are being charged under Section 227 of the Penal Code Act, the charge being rush and neglect.
Mourners continue to throng the home of Kibuule, to condole with him.
Among them are The Vice President, Hon. Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi.
WHAT MINISTRY OF WATER SAYS
In a tweet this afternoon, the Ministry of water and environment said: “We are saddened about the sudden death of the twins of our state Minister for Water. We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and may the good Lord comfort you during this trying time. May their souls rest in eternal peace.”
