Land Broker Jailed for Grabbing Land of 83year old woman in Mityana

Court in Mityana presided over by the Chief Magistrate has today September 26, 2025, remanded a land Broker identified as Isaac Lutwama Mugandazi to government prisons on accusations of forgery and fraudulent procurement of a certificate of title belonging to the land of an 83-year-old woman.

The accused person was paraded before court after he was netted by the State House Anti-corruption unit in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) of the Uganda Police Force and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

Lutwama was also charged with fraudulent procurement of a certificate of title, forgery, uttering false documents, making a false declaration in a matter relating to land and conspiracy to commit a felony.

 Prosecution contends that between April and July 2019, in Kasalaga village, Mityana District, Lutwama and other individuals still at large deliberately forged and presented powers of attorney falsely claiming they had been granted by Christine Najjemba, an 83-year-old widow.

Prosecution further accuses Lutwama of conspiring with others at the Mityana Ministry Zonal Office (MZO) to fraudulently obtain certificates of title for land comprised in Busujju Block 56, Plots 249, 113, 106, 100, 121, 125, 126, 122, 70, 112, 114, and 101. He then sold a portion of the land belonging to aging Christine Najjemba.

Meanwhile, Lutwama was remanded to prisons to go and enjoy free accommodation, beans and posho until October 25, 2025 when he returns for further hearing of the cases imposed against him.
