Lives of Rukungiri chief magistrate and two lawyers are in danger after an envelope containing live bullets was delivered to them.
Others to have received the same ‘gift’ include the District Police Commander as well as the Resident State Attorney.
The anonymous letter wrapped together with live bullets was dropped in front of RSA, Richard Muhereza’s residence Wednesday morning.
It contained death threats directed at the Chief Magistrate, Moses Kule Lubangula, the District Police Commander, Moses Nanoka, two prominent lawyers, Mark Mwesigye of M/s Mark Mwesigye & Company Advocates and Jonathan Bwagi of Bwagi & Company Advocates.
The suspected assassins have warned them in the letter, to back off the land cases they are handling.
The warning letter was packaged in a brown envelope which also contained two live bullets.
“We know where you stay. We know your office. We know all your family members. We warn you to leave [the] land cases because we are hired to kill you if you keep in the cases,” the letter reads in part. ”Your friends are also known, so you have to listen to our demands, these bullets are yours in soon time.”
The authors of the letter, who are not yet known, say that they have already been paid to execute the mission.
The District Police Commander, Nanoka said they are investigating the case.
He, however, said those under threat have been given police escorts to protect them against possible attack.
