In a deliberate effort of professionalizing the military to match global modern defence standards, the UPDF continues positioning officers in strategic positions with a view to offer quality service to the population.
And accordingly, Maj Gen (Rtd) Michael Ondoga has assumed office as the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) Coordinator for the West Nile Region, in a ceremony held at the Kamwokya based OWC headquarters in Kampala.
The brief colourful handover event was officiated by Brig Gen Godfrey Muwanguzi, Deputy Chief Coordinator of OWC, who congratulated Ondoga on his appointment and reaffirmed the institution’s full support as he undertakes his new mandate.
Muwanguzi also took the opportunity to acknowledge the service of the outgoing coordinator, Lt Col (Rtd) Bart Angumi, commending him for his commitment and dedication.
‘We warmly wish you success in your new assignment and encourage you to always seek advice and guidance any challenges that might come your way for effective execution of your work’ he observed.
In his remarks, Ondoga extended his gratitude to Gen (Rtd) Caleb Akandwanaho,Salim Saleh Chief Coordinator of OWC, for the confidence entrusted to him. He vowed to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s continued journey of social and economic transformation.

“I am grateful for the trust placed in me by Gen (Rtd) Akandwanaho. I look forward to building on the work already done and supporting Uganda’s transformation agenda,” said Maj Gen (Rtd) Ondoga.
Angumi, in his remarks thanked the OWC leadership and staff for their cooperation and support during his service as regional coordinator saying he was proud having been entrusted with the responsibility to serve in that capacity.
Other senior officers who were present included Brig Gen James Kaija, Chief Staff Officer, and department heads from across OWC, who collectively and separately underscored the importance of the occasion.
