Pallisa; The Mbale College of health science were officially crowned as the winners of the seventh edition of the Eastern region health institutions competition hosted by Agule Institute of health sciences and management in Pallisa district.
While declaring results after the decoration of the exceptional participants Mr. Kwabo Allan Micheal the chairperson of chairperson Eastern region health institutions games and sports congratulated all the institution that participated in this completion which enabled his team to identify those going to represent the region in Gulu college of health science that is going to host national function.
Kwabo revealed that failure by other schools to send participants would affect them both directly and indirectly because some could have been denied to display their talents, while as the region selects the best talents to represent us at the national level . He said schools such as Life Spring Institute of nursing and health sciences, IUIU school of nursing and midwifery, Elgon school od nursing and midwifery, St.Peter’s school of nursing and midwifery in Kapchorwa, and Tororo college of health sciences are going to be fined shs.5,000,000 for not only failing to participate but for denying the students opportunity to explore their talents.
Kwabo said the overall wieners in athletics were school of hygiene for boys as the track event were dominated by Kiprop Daniel Mark, Kibeti Ronald Merefu and Okoboi Denis while Salem school of nursing grabbed the girl’s top position in athletics.
Nonetheless Mbale College of health sciences managed to gather 15 gold medals, six silvers and five bronze while Mbale school of hygiene that were defending champions came second with 14 gold, 16 silver and six bronze medals, Salem school of nursing took the third position after getting 4 gold, six silver and six bronze medals. Alice Amune school of nursing and midwifery was the fourth with 3 gold, eight silver and 13 bronzes followed by Agule institute of health sciences and management with 3 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronzes.

He lauded David Ochwa the Member of Parliament for Agule county in Pallisa district who is also, the executive director of Agule Institute of health sciences and management for hospitality and fatherly treatment of all the visiting teams.
However, Fred Wakuma the sports tutor for Agule Institute of health sciences and management said what affected their score card was they did not participate in seven games such as badminton, wood ball, basketball, scramble among other mind games.
Wakuma said come next year they will ensure all areas are done by their school as well so as to raise medals and come out as champions. The best in sprints such as 400m, 200m and 100m Omadodo Emmanuel from Agule institute of health sciences and management said he was going to concentrate in 400m an 200m so that he will not wear out.
Prossy Talunga the best in discuss from Salem nursing school expressed confidence in herself saying field event only need a participant to abide by the rules and technics.
“Most participants fail to make points because of poor throwing skills which is so frustrating@, Talunga said. Betty Imagoro from Mbale School of hygiene who was crowned the best girl in wood ball said she is sure of getting national recognition by taking the first position in Gulu.
MP Ochwa whom the games and sports eastern region zeroed as chief guest lauded the ministry of education and sports for accepting Agule institute of health sciences and management to host the seventh edition and said this was an approval for his bigger interest to host the national competition.
“This competition that attracted over 1,500 people from other institution benefited the business community of Agule. I would request other institution who did not participate to take part next time because paying a fine of shs. 5 million and also shouldering blame from students seem unwell”,Ochwa said. He said when people see the health students doing sports they will ppick interest when I advised in the health facilities to do physical exercises.
“I would like to be quoted well saying I am proud of NRM government for opening all channels of tapping talents from all institutions and even those outside school circles and this will impact positively to our communities when others get absorbed in sports like this neglected mind games they always brought people together as the most common in all of us in trading centers is Omweso”, Ochwa said.
