Mbale Mayor Mohamood Masaba declares war on Speaker Aninta Among’s Tormentors, Vows to Mobilize Support for Her NRM CEC Bid

By Nathan Ngobi

Mohamood Masaba Mutenyo, the Mbale Industrial City mayor who doubles as Mbale district NRM chairman, has declared war in Masabaland to fight whoever stands in the path against the victory of parliamentary speaker Anita Annet Among’s bid for the top NRM CEC slot.

The Speaker of Parliament, who is Bukedea’s strong NRM iron lady, Anita Among, officially announced her intention to contest for the position of National Vice Chairperson (Female) in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) late last year.

This position is currently held by the Minister of East African Community Affairs, the Kamuli District woman member of parliament, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.

While announcing her bid, Among emphasized that it is for a national position rather than the Eastern region.

“I’m not standing for the position for the Eastern region. I’m standing for the position of National Vice Chairperson (Female),” Among noted.

However, Mohamood Masaba, the Mbale district NRM chairman and currently the industrial city mayor, shocked mourners at Busiu village, Busiu subcounty, Mbale district, on Tuesday during the burial of the late Mutambo Christopher when he declared full support for speaker Anita’s CEC bid and asked the people of Bugisu to join his mobilization team to see that Anita wins.

The NRM chairman of Busiu subcounty, Mutambo Amos, aka Kagame, is the son of the late Mzee Christopher Mutambo, and during his speech, Masaba Mohamood told the mourners that speaker Anita is approachable, listens to people, and solves problems, so it would be of great advantage if she is elected the national vice chairperson (female) at CEC, where she would use both her position as speaker and CEC member to advocate for the people’s needs.

Masaba delivered a condolence of 500,000/= cash that came from the speaker, Anita Among, with a message that she was with them at the trying moment when they lost their dear one.

Masaba later vowed to fight whoever dares to cross Anita Among’s path to victory over the CEC top slot.

The NRM chief mobilizer in Bugisu said that he started long ago mobilizing for the speaker Anita Among’s bid to become the next CEC member.

“I started my mobilization in Bugisu; all my networks are aware, and it is solid to see that our candidate goes through; we shall not allow anyone to confuse us, but we need victory,” Masaba told mourners who kept on clapping hands throughout his speech.

Masaba currently joins other people, including members of parliament from Busoga (Kaliro district), who vowed to mobilize for Anita Annet Among’s CEC bid after her declaration to contest and replace former speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.
