The police at the Central Police Station, Mbarara are hunting down a driver of truck registration number UBD 895N that knocked dead a Chinese contractor at Kamukuzi Division, Mbarara at 9am Wednesday.
Lee Limin, 49, an employee of Chinese’s CICCO Construction Company, died in the process.
Eyewitnesses say the incident occurred during road works at Kamugungunu when the truck, driven by Hassan Kamari hit Limin.
He was distracted by his phone as he guided the same truck to reverse, an eyewitness said. The truck belongs to the same company and was at the time of the incident, on duty.
He was rushed to Mbarara Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The police are now hunting the driver after he fled the scene for causing the accident Vide TAR 89/2020.
