Men In Menstruation: SMACK League’s Zulu donates cash for pads

In line with this season’s campaign, Ladies First, Team Zulu has donated Shs1m to cater for menstrual pads in a bid to keep underprivileged girls in school.  

This development was confirmed to this news site by the League’s Chief Marketing Officer, Hillary Baguma.

“Owing to The SMACK League’s desire to positively impact society, we set a vision of empowering 1000 women in season four. A goal towards which team Outkasts – Class of 2005, partnered with Ecopads Africa to involve men in menstruation health management and keep girls in school. Ecopads which manufactures reusable sanitary pads that can last up to a year created a cheaper solution to menstrual health management for low income families, a cause to which The SMACK league community contributed over UGX 6 Million in cash and pledges, This cause involved the younger classes as much as the older years. Most notably, Team Zuluz –Class of 2009 pledged and paid UGX 1 Million towards keeping girls in underprivileged areas in Uganda in school,” Baguma said.

Baguma said the donation was handed over early September on Match day 5 of The SMACK league at Legends Rugby Club.

It should be noted that the SMACK league is sponsored by Cavendish University, 8 Winx Hotel. NC BANK, Orchid Valley Juice, Pulse Specialist Clinic Soccanet and Legends Rugby grounds.
