Bugiri Municipality Member of Parliament, Asuman Basalirwa has said the six Members of Parliament who were under pressure for fear of being thrown out of Parliament are now excited and relieved following Thursday afternoon Supreme Court decision.
Earlier, the Supreme Court opposed the Constitutional Court ruling that nullified the election of the six MPs representing the newly created municipalities.
The ruling came as a result of a petition by former Bufumbira East MP, Eddie Kwizera Wagahunu whose ground was that the election of 6 MPs never followed the law.
However, speaking to this news site, Basalirwa said; “I am excited and relieved by the said ruling. I am now going to be more focused on representing my people and legislating for the country without any fear of being ejected out of the house in the short run.”
He said that together with his colleagues, the issues now at hand are legislation and support to their communities.
The other excited and relieved MPs are; Abraham Looki ( Kotido), Hashim Sulaiman ( Nebbi), Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye ( Sheema ), Patrick Ochan ( Apac) and Tarsis Rwaburindori ( Ibanda)
