Museveni hails Kyabazinga Gabula on uplifting standards of living of the Basoga

The President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni has applauded His Royal Highness, the Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV for exhibiting total devotion to culture and focusing on uplifting the standards of living of his subjects in Busoga.

This was in his speech read by the Vice President of Uganda Rt. Maj. Jessica Alupo during commissioning of the magnificent Kyabazinga Igenge Palace at Wanyange Hill, Jinja Northern division in Jinja City. Alupo represented President Museveni at the ceremony.

Museveni thanked Busoga Kingdom for mobilizing the community to work hard and improve household incomes and also urged the population to participate in the drive to eliminate poverty in their households through commercial farming enterprise development.

“All households are urged to start working for income,” the President advised.

He added that his government applauds the cordial and mutual cooperation that has existed since the Busoga cultural institution was revived.

Museveni also said that he is grateful for the achievements that have been reached on both sides and the government remains committed to safeguard the cultural revivals situation of the kingdoms at all times.

In his message, Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV reminded his subjects that the Co-values in the Kingdom is to unite people and welcome all people in various capacities at the palace.

The Monarch urged people to remain united and develop Busoga and further appreciated the Ministry of Works and Transport and the Ministry of Gender for renovating the palace.    

“I commend the First deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga and the second Prime Minister Rukia Isanga Nakadama for their efforts towards the renovation of the palace,” Gabula said.

He also appreciated his predecessor HRH Henry Wako Muloki OBE (RIP) and his cabinet, hereditary chiefs, Busoga Kingdom’s Katukiro Dr. Joseph Muvawala and his deputies Prof. Dr. Muhamadi Lubega and Osman Noor Ahmed, Busoga Kingdom Ministers, Busoga Lukiiko, Princesses and friends of Busoga for their support and patience.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport Bageya Waiswa said renovation works at the Palace were worth over shs12 billions.

The ceremony was graced by the First deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, the second deputy Prime Minister Rukia Isanga Nakadama, the Minister of the Presidency Milly Babirye Babalanda, the Minister of State for Elderly Affairs Dominic Gidudu Mafabi, former Vice President of Uganda Specioza Wandira Kazibwe, Members of Parliament from Busoga Kingdom, Busoga Kingdom Royal Chiefs led by Isabalangira Samuel Zirabamuzale Menhya of Bugweri Chiefdom, Busoga Kingdom Ministers, Busoga Tourism Queens and business community among others.
