At the weekend, President Yoweri Museveni was Chief Guest at a thanksgiving ceremony convened by
Uganda People’s Defense Forces Land Forces Commander, Lt. Gen. Peter Elwelu.
Witnessing Elwelu’s alter, many though the army general is turning pastor, a thought, he is repenting from the Kasese killings and arrests in 2016.
However, while addressing the congregation and quoting Genesis 1:26, Museveni said people should do their mandate of developing the world and not spend all the time praying.
“Prayer is good, but don’t abandon your assignment,” Museveni told Elwelu. Earlier, Elwelu had told his visitors that God had instructed him not to comment on Kasese matters.
“Elohim told me not to answer any question about Kasese because the bible tells people not to judge or condemn anyone because none knows who is right in the world. I pity whoever has judged me,” he said.
The question was in relation to the raid on Rwenzururu King’s palace in Kasese on November 26, 2016. Over 50 people died while over 100 people, including Mumbere, were arrested.
