The Namilyango college old boys Association [NACOBA] president Alex Asiimwe has pledged to continue with their vision of supporting the college through implementing several listed high end income generating projects to boost their development agenda.
Asiimwe made the remarks over the weekend while addressing old students that turned up at their 5th annual NACOBA awards dinner held at the Grand Imperial hotel under the theme ‘ICT-Competence based education in Namilyango College’.
He said they appreciate all efforts being undertaken by the college headmaster for ensuring that Namilyango remains the favorable education institution which offers an all-round quality education package to the citizens of Uganda and beyond.
The minister of justice and constitutional affairs Nobert Mao who was chief guest commended the College for offering an inclusive and focused education package to the student community which has positively impacted on their lifestyle as majority work in key decision making portfolios.
The purpose of the NACOBA Awards which attracted over 300 old boys currently serving humanity in various offices of responsibility was to recognize old students and staff, past and present, dead or alive, who have made significant achievements in society, and whose accomplishments, affiliations and careers have honoured the Namilyango College core values of among others, honesty and integrity, innovation, respect for human dignity, Christ-centered holistic formation, and excellence.
Mao, an old boy himself, paid special tribute to the late former college headmaster Peregrine Kibuuka for having nurtured him, especially his articulate technique of teaching of the English subject which heavily inspired him to read hard and love his college.
The chief justice Emeritus of Uganda Justice Bart Katureebe in his keynote address said he was impressed by the great work being done by the college headmaster Constantine Ssajabbi Mpuuga with his team whose results are visible everywhere.
The college headmaster Constantine Ssajabbi Mpuuga commended the NACOBA leadership for the support rendered to the college noting that they are taking the teaching of ICT seriously.
Mpuuga noted that with their student population of 2051, they have only 105 computers largely used by the S.1 students where 30 are reserved for research with an additional 80 tablets purchased recently to supplement that effort of promoting the ICT agenda.
