NAMIREMBE: Collapsed building kills two after Nsibambi requiem mass

By Francis Otucu

A guest house about 100 meters from Namirembe Cathedral has this afternoon collapsed killing two people.

Others are feared trapped under the rubble.

The Uganda Red Cross spokesperson, Irene Nakasiita, confirmed the building collapse saying that the deaths still remain under two.

She said the building succumbed to heavy rains at about 4:00pm, collapsing and trapping its occupants, whose number is not yet known.

“Kaije coffee bar at Namirembe guest house collapsed following the heavy downpour,” she told the NilePost.

The incident happened soon after a requiem mass of ex-premier, Prof. Apollo Nsibambi had been concluded.

Security Minister, Gen Elly Tumwine is among those at the scene to ensure those still trapped inside are rescued safely and alive.
