Namirembe Mother’s Union delegates visit counterparts in South Ankole

NTUNGAMO: The South Ankole diocese mothers union  has hosted their Namirembe diocese counterparts in a benchmarking trip at which the latter learnt new development oriented ideas.

The president  South Ankole Mothers Union  Rita Byomuhumuza  who   welcomed and hosted  the visitors to Ntungamo said   the  trip was meant to expose her  visitors to the several     projects initiated and spearheaded by  Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe on behalf of  the Diocese which partnership involves  the ministry of agriculture, animal industry and fisheries [MAAIF]   support with funds  from the Uganda Intergovernmental fiscal transfers reform program  [UgIFT]  Micro scale irrigation development program under the World Bank.

Bishop Ahimbisibwe over the weekend held a brief bidding farewell ceremony to the 40 member strong delegation ending their three day benchmarking trip in the diocese in  Ntungamo district.

Ahimbisibwe congratulated the team for fostering closer Networking ties with his women saying the visit helped the two sides to share key development and gospel information capable of changing their way of lifestyles and fighting household poverty.

‘Am excited to meet this delegation of strong Christian women led by the Namirembe diocese president of the Mothers Union Nalongo Biingi Roseline Kawiso because they brought with them key messages from  the holy gospel, gifts as well as sharing with us new information  that has effectively  empowered my people leaving them both physically and mentally changed persons’ noted Ahimbisibwe.

The project which is home to large scale plantations of coffee, Banana and fish ponds among others enables the women beneficiary communities to acquire free on-farm technology skills and transfer knowledge of which they transform into wealth back on their respective household land.

The delegation learnt new technologies in art and crafts as well as mastering how to make reusable sanitary towels for the girl child among others.

The south Ankole diocese Mothers Union president Rita Byomuhumuza thanked her guests for accepting their invitation saying the visit helped expose the parties to new developments and vowed to pay a return courtesy visit in the near future.

The delegation later visited the key tourist site of the Kitagata hot springs as well as the Equator crossing point among other exciting adventures.
