NRM Historical fighters seek to meet Museveni over pay promises

Members of the NRM historical leaders forum have demanded to meet their leader president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni  over his unfulfilled funding promise he made in 2015 saying many of their colleagues have died  while others are still languishing on their death beds.

The members made the remarks in a press statement issued over the weekend who noted with concern that ever since they last met president Museveni in 2015 at Namboole national stadium at which forum he promised that they would get funding support each financial year as contribution to the bush war efforts nothing has been delivered to them.

‘We are historical elders  of NRM/NRA  liberation struggle from fighting groups ranging from NRC, FRONASA, Luwero war veterans, UNRF, UNLF/AD, SUM and  UFM/FEDEM under the umbrella of the NRM historical leaders forum who are seeking audience with the president to remind him about our pay promise which is still in vain’ they noted.

“We do hereby express our disappointment about  the way our pledge made by our leader H.E President Museveni in 2015 is being handled by state house staff because  all these years  we have been made to expect payment by end of each financial year but  nothing is coming to us or any information about the pledge’.

We further take this opportunity to extend our concern to you, our president, to grant us an audience for the whole membership of the forum because the procrastination is becoming too much for us to bear.

Your members are facing a lot of challenges like illness, poor feeding, and others have died like our former chairman Alhaji Kirunda Kivejinja, Maj.Oliva Zzizinga, Lt.Mahamoud Hussein among others while the rest are aging out without benefitting from your promise.

By the end of last year, we were promised that by the last quarter of this  financial year 2025/26, money will be paid and you mentioned that money was released to your freedom fighters which development raised our expectations  but unfortunately the financial year has ended with no light at the end of the tunnel.We still have hope that you would invite us soon for this critical meeting such that we can share with you our concerns as your old friends and colleagues in the bush war struggle which brought liberation to the country currently enjoyed by the entire citizenry.
