Panic as Security vows to block Bobi Wine Supporters at Kavule from 18 Districts for Presidential Bid Endorsement

By Nathan Ngobi

Tension, fear and panic have increased nationwide among the supporters of the NUP and particularly at Makerere Kavule National unity Platform NUP head office after leaked reports that security has threatened to block hundreds of the party supporters anticipated to throng the place with their national Ids to endorse their party president Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.

The EC on Friday afternoon issued a list of 18 districts in which the NUP presidential candidates reportedly failed to raise the required supporter signatures ahead of his Tuesday 23 September 2025 the nomination day.

However, Bobi Wine went on his X handle social media and condemned the EC over actions of leaking the particulars of their supporters who appended signatures and for some time security officers have been allegedly calling to threaten them.

He however, called upon his supporters from that district to travel to Kampala Makerere Kavule the party’s head office and endorse him.

Meanwhile leaked details from security agencies reveal that they may not allow Bobi Wine supporters to massively throng the party offices to append their signatures as it may contravene some laws governing this country.

“Let them go and look for the signatures from the locals at their various districts” A security source tod the Second Opinion.

Below is the message of Bobi Wine that he posted on his x handle with the required districts: –

In the most partisan manner, the Electoral Commission is indicating that we haven’t submitted enough signatures for my nomination as President from the Districts listed below.

This, after submitting more than enough signatures per District! The same Commission is indicating that Museveni submitted more than enough signatures. Shamelessly, GISOs, DISOs, RDCs, etc have been reaching out to all those who signed for us intimidating them and threatening them.

Then the EC says it called them and they denied having signed for us and therefore removed them from the list. Criminals! If you are a registered voter and your National Identity Card indicates that you are a voter in the following Districts, please come to the National Unity Platform Headquarters at Makerere-Kavule, tomorrow between 8:00am and 11:00am and give us that signature!
