The Anglican Chaplain for Parliament, Rev Canon Christine Shimanya has kicked off corporate fast aimed at closing bars.
This news site understands that under the prayer, all Anglican Christians walk from their churches from 6am to Namirembe Cathedral.
While they walk, they are praying against all sorts of evils, bars being one of them.
Shimanya confirmed the prayer against bars on Sunday while delivering a sermon at St. Francis Chapel, Makerere.
“We are praying that the bars are closed spiritually. Women and children suffer. Men are drinking. Are you aware that some people don’t go home?” Rev. Shimanya, the wife to Col. Michael Shimanya said, while expounding on the topic, Power of Corporate fasting. She said fasting is a big gun that cause havoc in the kingdom of Satan. “We pray through walking. For example, from St. Francis to Namirembe. While there, we conclude and by 9am, the program is done.
The corporate fast, according to Shimanya will go on for 40 days.
