The operation was conducted in areas of Katwe, Nsambya, Kisenyi, Old Kampala, Namirembe road, Wandegeya, Kabalagala, Jinja Road, City Centre, Nakivubo channel and the surrounding areas with a target against bag, phone and necklace snatchers.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said 424 were arrested in the operation.
He said some of those arrested had been released on court bail and on police bond and that the force will immediately take them to the various Courts or police stations.
“We are however going to screen them before processing their case files. They are likely to appear in court tomorrow. We urge members of the public to be vigilant,” Onyango said.
