Police seal off tycoon Abid Alarm’s factory over live bullets, active bombs

The police have cordoned off scrap yard belonging to Steel Rolling factory at Walukuba division in Jinja district.

Impeccable sources say the incident followed recovery of live ammunitions the from the factory Wednesday.

A police report Vide CRB 901/2019 of CPS, Jina show the factory, owned by tycoon Abid Alam is being probed for an Unlawful possession of Government stores.

According to the report, at 5pm on November 12, 2019, Jinja RDC, Eric Sakwa alerted police that rusty but unexploded ordinances (UXOs) and cartilages with some live ammunitions were found and recovered in the scrap yard of steel rolling factory at Walukuba.

It is then that the police moved into action, sealing off the place as experts including the Bomb Squad visited the scene.

The police say inquiries are on-going.

Steel Rolling is a member of the Alam Group.
