The Central Police Station in Lugazi is holding several people in connection with the murder of a 24-year old pork roaster, Emmanuel Kayima.
A violent attack that ended Kayima’s life was on the morning of February 25, 2019 at Lugazi Railway Fields, where the deceased had allegedly gone to sell pork during a music concert by singer David Lutalo.
While there, sources say he engaged in a scuffle with some other unidentified people roasting ‘muchomo’, resulting in the fracas.
Regional Police spokesperson Hellen Butoto confirmed the incident.
She said Scene of Crime Officers (SOCOS) visited the scene and found Kayima’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood in a garden not far from the music concert venue.
“The deceased had a deep cut on his right hand leg (lower thigh). His body was taken to Kawolo Mortuary for postmortem to ascertain the actual cause of death,” she said.
Butoto declined to divulge details but said arrests had been made.
“We feel it’s too early to reveal their identities because others are on the run. I can only confirm arrests made in the matter,” Butoto explained.
The suspects are currently detained at CPS Lugazi awaiting screening to process further inquiries Under CRB 07/2019.
