REVEALED: Sudhir Ruparelia owns shares in three local banks, dfcu Bank included

It has been revealed that Uganda’s top businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, who doubles as Chairman of Ruparelia Group of Companies, is a major individual shareholder in three local banks; including dfcu Bank that took over the assets of his own former Crane Bank Limited.

Sudhir also owns shares in Uganda’s biggest bank Stanbic Bank as well as Bank of Baroda.

Sudhir has the biggest individual shareholder in Stanbic Bank with 330, 723, 247 valued at Shs8.9 billion as of November 8, 2019, which constitutes 0.65 percent of the bank.

He is also the biggest individual shareholder in the Bank of Baroda with 62, 527, 250 shares worth Shs7.8 billion, which is 2.5 percent of the bank.

Again through the stock exchange, Sudhir owns 0.2 percent, an equivalent of 2, 165, 575 shares.

Ruparelia Group of Companies number over 20 companies in areas of education, financial services, insurance, careers, floriculture, real estate, media, hospitality and charity.

Some of the companies include; Crane Financial Services, Goldstar Insurance Company, Kabira Country Club, Speke Resort and Conference Centre, Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort, Victoria University, Kampala Parents’ School, Meera Investments Limited, Sanyu FM,  Premier Roses, Premier Recruitment and Ruparelia Foundation, among others.
