By Tuesday morning, it was not a secret anymore that the Anglican church had banned retired archbishop, RT REV Stanley Ntagali from priestly duties over adultery.
Ntagali’s followers and sympathisers, however, believe the matter could have been handled better, internally.
But, inside sources say the two had a history.
The history, sources say, stems from Uganda Christian University, Mukono.
Insiders say, Kazimba Mugalu as an incoming archbishop wanted another person, a one Mugawe to take over as the VC . Yet, Ntagali had Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi in mind. This was even two months to Ssenyonyi’s (then UCU VC) retirement. It did not go down well with the powers at UCU because Ssenyonyi’s plan was to hand over to a person he had mentored – Dr. Mugawe. Senyonyi had reportedly refused to give Dr. Musinguzi a contract because he saw Mugawe he saw as his immediate replacement. Kazimba was also aware of the deal but Ntagali moved fast to appoint a person of his choice to the office. In fact, Ssenyonyi got to know about his replacement and retirement date in newspapers. With this, many believe Kazimba is punishing Ntagali in revenge.
