Good African Coffee, the first African-owned coffee brand to be stocked in UK supermarkets and US retailers, is heavily in debts, this news site can exclusively report.
Whereas the figures may not be very clear, bailiffs have filed a notice of sale by private auction for land on Kyadondo Block 185, Plot 5277 at Kira-Namugongo measuring approximately 0.054 hectares/0.133 acres.
The land is developed with a three bedroom bungalow and a separate staff quarters block.
According to Quickway Auctioneers & Court Bailiffs, Good African Coffee owned by businessman, Andrew Rugasira, the debtor has been given 30 days after which, they will go ahead to carry out the sale.
It is not clear whether Good African Coffee will act within a period of 30 days.
In 2017, Uganda Revenue Authority closed Good African Coffee shops for three days over unpaid tax arrears amounting to Shs1billion. The shops were reopened days later after reported talks between the businessman and the authority.
Since then, insiders say the business is struggling.
