Rwandan government has blocked artists attached to Green Ferry Music from accessing Uganda to perform at the Nyege Nyege Festival in Jinja, Uganda.
These details are contained in a statement issued Wednesday by Rwandan based record label, Green Ferry Music.
In a statement, the label said their artists; Bushali, Ice Nova and Dr. Nganji will not be performing at Nyege Nyege in the eastern district of Jinja.
This, the label said in a statement that it is given the recent soiled relations between Rwanda and Uganda.
The artists, Green Ferry said have not been allowed into Uganda.
“Regardless of how much effort the promoters have made to make sure we get in, we didn’t make it,” part of the statement reads.
The festival is scheduled to begin on September 5 to September 8, 2019.
Rwandan government is yet to comment on the matter.
Nyege Nyege organizers however say Rwandans crossing into Uganda by road are not being allowed into the country.
“We regret to say that our Rwandan brothers and sisters crossing the border by land for Nyege Nyege 2019 are not being allowed past the border by Rwanda Immigration. Only those flying in are allowed,” Nyege Nyege Festival twitter handle tweeted earlier on Wednesday.
