Schools issuing fake UACE results to please parents- UNEB

The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has disclosed that some schools in Uganda issue fake Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results which they purport to be genuine results with the intention of pleasing candidates and their parents.
UNEB chairperson, Prof Mary Okwakol, has warned that such schools risk having their examination centres closed.

“It has come to the attention of the board that some head teachers issue fake examination results which they purport to be UNEB results with the intention of falsely pleasing parents,” she said.

She warned those engaged in the illegal activity that, “They risk having examination centres withdrawn,” she said on Thursday while releasing the 2018 UACE results.”

A total of 99,672 students wrote their UACE that started on Monday, November 12, 2018. UACE is the highest level of secondary education cycle in Uganda.

Of the said 99,672 candidates who sat the exams last year, 53,359 were male and 41,313 were female. The learners wrote their exams from 2,217 centres across the country.

However, Prof Okwakol said that the UACE candidature dropped by 1,693 candidates which translates to 1.7 percent compared to that of 2017.
