SFC, UPDF Chiefs Trade Blows at Checkpoint

On June 16, 2020 at 1:30pm, at Mitooma – Ishaka security checkpoint, Mitooma Town Council, an officer attached to an elite security arm, the Special Forces Command (SFC) identified as RA 217408 CPL. Dickson Namara, attached to Tanker II in Entebbe assaulted his UPDF colleague named Joseph Matsiko, an Intelligence Staff attached to Mitooma Police Station.

The errant soldier (Namara), also attempted to disarm the officer.

However, his luck ran out when he was subdued by other security personnel at the checkpoint.

“The errant soldier (in civilian attire) became violent when the vehicle Reg. No. UAZ 965A Toyota Premio in which he was travelling was stopped at the checkpoint for carrying passengers. The vehicle was being driven by Mugisha Crispus Asiimwe a politician vying for MP Ruhinda County seat,” part of a confidential report to the Inspector General of Police on the security situation in the country, reads.

According to the report, the suspects and the vehicle were arrested and impounded respectively, held at Mitooma Police Station pending further action.
