St. Andrew’s Church Bukoto cost the faithful and well-wishers money in the region of Shs10 billion, the church’s project overseers have said. The Church is to be officially opened on Sunday.
According to the Vicar of the church, Rev. Canon Michael Mukhwana, the building that took 10 years to complete, has a Chapel, Gallery, office space among other facilities and has a sitting capacity of over 2500 people.
Life span for the structure is estimated at over 300-500 years if factors remain constant. Some of the equipment used to roof the structure were imported from Kenya.
Equipment of the roof equipment was brought from Kenya. No loans were used to fund the construction of the building.
The out-going Archbishop of Uganda Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali and his successor Most Rev. Samuel Kazimba Mugalu are expected to preside of the opening of the new church building. Representatives from government are expected to attend the function.
