As the Indian community residing in Uganda celebrates their 77th national independence day, different associations have participated in social corporate responsibility [SCR] activities.
Among them is the Kamwokya Sindhi community temple under the Sindhi community Uganda which has collaborated with the Indian Association Uganda in partnership with the Uganda blood transfusion services [UBTS],the Uganda red cross society [URCS] and several business firms to carry out a free blood donation drive to help those in need of blood.

The Kamwokya Sindhi community, while celebrating their 32 years in Uganda offering charitable services, was recently able to mobilize their community members and locals surrounding Kamwokya to donate blood as well as offering free medical services like eye care, dental and general medical checkup among others.
The senior blood collection clinical team leader from UBTS Samuel Davis Wante told this website on the sidelines of the camp that they have a strategic partnership with the Indian Association Uganda of collecting a total of 7,700 units of blood during the cause of the national day festivities with lined up activities and have so far hit that target.
He pointed out that as part of their social corporate responsibility activities marking their 77th India national independence day, they partnered with several stakeholder Associations in carrying out blood donation drives and this time it was the Sindhi community which marks 32 years of service in the country.
Wante noted that they have a projected target of collecting 10,000 units of blood as the activities for the Sindhi community rages on from 7th-15 September at their Kamwokya temple given that hundreds of members and locals shall visit and donate as they access free medical services.

He stressed that the world health organization [WHO] statistics demand that each country must be in position to mobilize 1% of its population to donate blood and that Uganda whose recent population and housing census projected population growth of 46 million people should collect at least 460,000 units of blood as a minimum to cover the needs of blood.
The Kamwokya Sindhi community temp religious affairs coordinator Mahesh Wandwani said they are set to hold a series of activities as part of their 10 days anniversary celebrations including cultural, religious and music among its members.
Officials from the Indian Association Uganda who did not want to be named said they are proud to associate with the Sindhi community of Kamwokya as they continue to celebrate their country’s 77th national day festivities which were commemorated recently.
