Henry Lutwama speaking at the Summit on Thursday in Kampala
At the Middle East and Africa Digital Transformation Summit in Kampala, Mr. Lutwama Henry, co-founder and CEO of Solar M7, delivered a strong message on the need for reliable energy to drive Africa’s digital future. He welcomed delegates from Uganda and across the world, including the COMESA Business Council team, and emphasized that digital transformation cannot succeed without inclusive access to energy.

“In many villages across Africa, when the sun sets, life stops. Children cannot read, shops close, and health workers cannot do their work,” he said. Highlighting Sustainable Development Goal 7, he explained that Solar M7 was established to provide affordable, clean, and reliable energy to rural communities, eliminating the darkness that hinders progress.
Mr. Lutwama introduced the Solar M7 Kit, describing it as a simple but powerful solution designed for off-grid households. The kit comes with a high-efficiency solar panel, rechargeable battery pack, multiple LED lamps, and USB ports for charging phones and radios. This allows families to light up their homes, support children’s studies, extend business hours, communicate through mobile phones, and replace dangerous kerosene lamps with clean, safe lighting.

He emphasized that Solar M7 is more than just a product; it is a pathway to economic growth, digital inclusion, and energy justice. The company’s bold vision is to light up over one million homes in the COMESA region by 2030 while laying the energy foundation needed for digital participation.
Mr. Lutwama concluded by thanking Hon. Joyce Sebugwawo and Mr. Innocent Kawooya for embracing the Solar M7 mission and invited investors and partners to join in building a connected Africa. The presentation ended with highlights from the official launch of Solar M7, marking a bold step towards achieving energy access and digital inclusion for all.
