Masaba addressing mourners at the send off of wanda Moses
A decent send-off of Mbale City NRM Publicity Secretary Moses Wanda on Sunday, 12th January 2025, in the afternoon had a heartfelt gesture from Uganda’s Speaker of Parliament, the Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among.
Represented by the Mbale District NRM Chairperson, Mr. Muhamood Masaba Mutenyo, the Speaker, Anita Among, extended her condolences of 2M (two million) shillings cash to the grieving family.
Wanda’s death occurred on Thursday, 9th January 2025, at Victoria Hospital, Kampala.
Speaking during the ceremony at their ancestral home in Bukasakya, Mbale Industrial City Division, Masaba Mohamod conveyed the speaker’s deep sympathies and later delivered her contribution of the Shs 2 million to support the bereaved family during the trying moment.
He emphasized the speaker’s solidarity with the NRM fraternity and the family during this difficult time.
Moses Wanda, a dedicated servant of the NRM party, was remembered for his tireless efforts in promoting the party’s agenda in Mbale. Leaders and mourners present hailed his commitment and pledged to uphold his legacy.
The Speaker’s gesture underscores her commitment to supporting communities and standing with party members in moments of need.
Muhamood Masaba also delivered condolences of Shs 200,000 on behalf of the chairperson of the Mbale City Land Board, Counsel Paul Mugoya Wanyoto, further extending support to the bereaved family during their time of grief.
However, Masaba was disappointed over the failure of the NRM Secretariat to support the late Wanda and his family during the period he was hospitalized and for burial expenses.
Masaba, the lion of Mbale, bitterly roared that if the NRM Secretariat does not stand by Wanda’s family during the difficult moments, then it raises doubts about the leadership of the party at the secretariat.
He further warned that the party should not only focus on intervening to help those at the CEC level only, forgetting that the lower foot soldiers too could turn their backs on the party if such negligence continues on the party cadres.
Rita Namuwenge who is behind the success of EMYOGA government poverty eradication project in Uganda and currently expressed interest to run for the member of parliament for Mbale City woman MP joined Masaba Mohamood to blast the party top leadership for failure to come in and help their supporters while in troubles.

Rita’s attack happened at the time when NRM CEC member and daughter of Bugisu Lydia Wanyoto had arrived.
“How can you fail to mobilise medical support and even upon death no condolence message sent to the family by the party top leadership” Bitter Rita asked Wanyoto in the presence of mourners.
Rita thanked the Rt. Hon Anita Among for the support of burial expenses to the family.
Wanyoto tried to explain to the mourners that Wambogo Wekesa and Mohamood Masaba should write a letter to the NRM secretariate and follow up for any support that could come out.
However, NRM party secretary general Richard Todwong told this media house that as the party they were not notified about the illness and death of their strong party member and key mobilizer, a publicity party member in Mbale City.
He said that party leaders in Bugisu should always have a formal way of notifying the top leadership in times of trouble so that they can arrange funds to help the suffering party member.
“We were not informed and therefore no need to blame us,” Todwong sounded.
