Stolen Police TV Gift: 9 officers arrested

By Francis Otucu

Nine police officers have been arrested following the ‘disappearance’ of a television gift set from the Central Police Station, Jinja.

The television set, mounted overlooking the reception counter went missing on January 12, 2020 between 1 and 3:30pm.

It is then that a probe kicked off, leading to nine officers.

Kiira Region Police spokesperson Diana Nandaula confirmed the arrests but declined to name the suspects.

We have however established that the nine suspects include an ASP, a sergeant, corporals (5), detective constable and an SPC.

The officers have been charged with neglect of duty and theft.
