Suspected Non-Complaint Cattle Keeper Drowns in Aswa River

A 40-year-old  suspected non-complaint cattle keeper has drowned in Aswa River in Kalamuka village, Atiak Sub County, Amuru District.

Moses Kiseka’s body  was discovered on Wednesday morning at around 7; 00am by the community who had gone to fetch water in the river.

He  allegedly drowned in the river on Monday 18th December 2023  evening at around 5;00pm when he had gone to bathe.

Samuel Akera, the Local Council Three Chairperson, Atiak sub-County, confirmed the report saying the deceased’s body was  yet to be retrieved from the water since they are still waiting for police divers.

Efforts to reach out to Joseph Nsabimana, the Amuru District Police Commander were futile since his known mobile number  was not going through.

This now brings to the incident to three cattle keeper to have drowned in Aswa River in the last three weeks.

The recent  victims drowned two weeks ago in the same river and only Richard Katanga’s body  was recovered while his unidentified colleague’s dead body is still missing up to now despite search by police marines.

This now brings to 21 people to have drowned in Rivers and swamps in West Acholi Sub Region in the last 11 months.

Police in the Aswa River Region have recently blamed parents for negligence leading to these cases of drowning in the region.
