Tourist Kidnap: Police Assure Ugandans, Foreigners of Safety

The police have re-assured Ugandans and visitors of safety and security. This after recovery of kidnapped American, Kimberley Sue Endicott and her driver, Paul Mirenge yesterday.

Speaking at the weekly media briefing in Naguru this morning, force’s spokesman, Fred Enanga said the force is committed to defending lives and property.

“We want to reassure all our citizens and visitors, that their safety and security is our number one priority. The successful recovery of the captives, serves as a reminder to those enemies who want to harm our own people including visitor’s, that we will do everything possible within our means to defend them,” he said.

He added that the operation to arrest the culprits is still on-going.

“The operation to arrest the culprits is ongoing with the close coordination of our counterparts from the DRC, whom we have been working with for the last 5 days,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Martins Okoth Ochola is this afternoon expected to hand over Kimberley to Her Excellency, the U.S. Ambassador to Uganda, at the American Embassy in Kampala.
