UCAA gives updates on its developments

The Minister for works and Transport Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, has updated the country on developments undertaken by the Authority during 2024 . Gen. Katumba attributed these developments to Universal security audit which ranked Entebbe International Airport among the safer airports globally.

Gen. Katumba informed stakeholders during a breakfast meeting held in Kampala that Entebbe International Airport didn’t record any security concerns following a security audit conducted by the International Civil Authority Organization (ICAO).

Gen.Katumba revealed that Gulu airport and Kabalega international airport are in advanced stages and will soon open this year . He added that efforts to upgrade Gulu and Arua aerodromes to International airport are under way.

Minister Katumba also revealed that the authority has signed additional bilateral air services agreement so as to build a robust air transport network that connects Uganda to major cities in the world.

The Director General Uganda Civil Authority , Mr. Fred Bamwesigye disclosed that last year the number of air travelers surpassed that during pre-Covid period.

He however, disclosed that the authority is faced with inadequate funds to improve upcountry aerodromes in addition to lack of enough land to expand some of the upcountry aerodromes.
